The GLOCDOWN: Broad City

Welcome to THE GLOCDOWN: the best 30-seconds of stand-up, storytelling, characters or sketch from you, the G.L.O.C., brought to weekly you by our newest addition to the team, Ariel Karlin.

“Broad City: Date Night”
by Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson
featuring Hannibal Buress

Set your internets for February 14th, when Broad City, the hilarious web series created by and starring GLOC veterans Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson, returns for Season 2!  In this clip from last season, Ilana rap-synchs Nicki Minaj’s “Get Wit It,” which, she explains, is “like a diss song at Lil Mama, who’s always starting shit.”  When pressed for her favorite Nicki quote, Ilana says, “My all-time fave Nicki lyric is soooo hard, but my favorite lyric for its message is, ‘I’m lookin’ for some brain to boost my IQ,’ because I believe that all forms of sex make a person smarter.”  And as hardcore Broad City fans and close-watchers of the episode “Work” know, Abbi has her own female hero: Laura Linney.  Abbi says, “It is true that my character and myself both love Ms. Linney.  I don’t know if it’s a specific quote, or even project, but she’s just a great Actress.  She’s one of the best if you ask me.  So down to earth, she makes it look so easy, and each character she plays is so real.  I could go on and on about the original LL cool, but I’ll stop.”
